JKW Josef Kuba 15 piece Bavaria porcelain coffee/tea set, vintage, made in West Germany. This is a beautiful Gold Love Story Tea Set by Josef Kuba of Wiesau J.K.W. Bavaria. This set dates between 1952 and 1972 according to the back stamp. "Josef Kuba, born in1896, opened a small porcelain factory in 1930 with its own little decoration studio in the city of Karlsbad (today Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic). During World War II the area was overrun by German forces and remained occupied until 1945. Following the end of the war, Kuba re-established his decoration business in a building on Herbstweg road in the southern part of Wiesau (Bavaria). Since then, his work was mainly based on pieces from the Porzellanfabrik Carl Shumann factory in Arzberg (Bavaria) or the Heinrich & Co. factory in Selb (Bavaria) although he occasionally used items by other manufacturers, for example, Hutschenreuther or Tirschenreuth. While Kuba decorated many items in a number of different styles like 'Alt-Wien' (Old Vienna) or Rembrandt, he preferred to include transfer applications based on oil paintings by the French artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard that mainly depict courting couples. With a little luck, one can also still find a few items with the rarely used 'Ätzgold' (etched gold) borders."Credit for the above information to Porcelain Marks & More Website and Nicolette & Sandra Kuba. Product Features:All pieces depict scenes of courting couples/ love story. The front has the scenes, the backs are solid gold embossed.Set includes 6 tea cups with plates, one teapot with lid, one sugar bowl with lid and a creamer. No chips, cracks or breaks. Some mild tarnishing and a few small scratches. Otherwise in great condition and simply beautiful to look at._________________ * Comes from a clean, smoke-free, pet-free environment.* Color variations may occur due to the flash of my camera, and/or lighting.
